You can factory order the bottom of the mirror to be painted though. Very expensive, but it is selectable. Option code DAR.

My SD mirrors have no whistle at all. I don't think SD mirrors were ever offered on the boxster.

I agree the black plastic on the bottom of the regular mirrors looks unfinished. I wish Porsche would just offer a single, good looking, non whistling mirror :-(
My Sport Design mirrors do not whistle.

Yeah, already did that - some fancy candlestick holder she wanted to go with one she got a few years ago. This is just an "extra"

Has anybody installed these swapping out the normal mirrors? I am considering ordering these from Suncoast but curious what the paint and labor will end up running. Love the look but not sure if it will be worth it after the fact.

The Rennlister in this thread paid $2,500 for the swap on his 991 Turbo. Crazy, I know.:

Default paint code for "high gloss black" used on lower trim?

Does anyone know the paint code for the "high gloss black" they use to paint the lower trim of the sport design mirrors when you select that option? I ordered the kit to convert my stock mirrors to sport design and decided I like the way the high gloss black looks with Carrera White.

I'm sure I'm completely in the minority here, but I actually like the look of the standard mirrors with the black plastic trim. Same for the rear valence and front trim, as well as the non painted radiator slats. Weird right?

I also declined the sports chrono, sports exhaust and sunroof.

I prefer the more plain lines of the standard car...black trim and all...

I'd budget at least $1K for paint and install in top of parts. Depending where/who could be a bit higher. Quite the little project. The old intervals need to be taken out to be put into the new housings too.

Overall, the BEST mirrors.

Only manually I believe. For sure not mechanically.
