First off this wasn't humor, it was a rhyme he used to make the point that there is no difference between two particular cars. Being british he used the old UK version, and mumbled over the offensive part. After reviewing the takes he tossed out the version, and it was never aired.
I like that he apologized anyway, and his apology seems very sincere.
I don't believe for a second that he is a racist.

Clarkson has an abrasive personality, and is crude, but I do not believe that he is a racist.

I can see how unintentional n word is offensive enough not to like Clarkson or watch his show.
News flash:
Ferdinand Porsche worked with and designed tanks for the natzies. He spent 20 months in prison for war crimes after the war. Maybe you did not know this till today. but now i am expecting the person who is offended by Clarkson's actions to burn or at least sell his Porsches.
