Default 991 MT Upshift Arrow

Hello,

in my new 2014 911-50 with the 7-speed manual, I cannot disable the upshift arrow, even in Sport mode (I don't have Sport Chrono so I can't talk about Sport Plus).
It was possible on the 2012 991 (also MT) that I had before via the PCM Menu.

Does anybody know if this is possible for the customer or maybe via the dealer?

Thanks for advice.

Did you try from the LCD display in the cluster gauge? I could never find the option on the PCM, but I was able to find the display arrow option in the LCD gauge.

My 1988 carrera had an upshift indicator. I hated it. I didn't want to shift at 1800 rpm's. I put black tape in front of it. I didn't know the 7 MT had that......I'm even more glad I have PDK. Lol.

Put it in sport or sport plus and no more arrow. While you still have an automatic.

Do it through the display on your instrument panel. If you can't find it, let me know and I'll go through the steps.

Seems that on the 2014s, you no longer can disable the arrow, even in Sport Mode.

Default Completely unacceptable

There has to be a way to turn it off. I haven't received my car yet, but that would be a major annoyance. If I want to shift to save fuel I'll do it. If I want to rev the engine to redline I'll do it. It's my car and I'll shift when I want to shift. I don't need a nanny computer suggesting shift points.

Is there a way to contact Porsche to ask about this?

Really glad I got a '13 C2 7MT that does not have rev matching or the upshift nanny. The fact that both of these are not defeatable in a 100k+ Porsche is sad.

The fact a 100k+ Porsche doesn't come standard with PDK is sad. Oh well like most good things it will filter down from the higher end cars before long.

The fact that drivers of automatics feel compelled to comment on MT threads is sad too.

Pg 93 Owners Manual:
J - Upshift prompt indicator: "The upshift indicator is only active when "Sport or "Sport Plus" mode is switched off. Regardless, its hardly noticeable.

They are old, feeble, and angry. It kind of makes sense.

I don't comment on PDK complaint threads. I figure the people driving automatic sports cars must have some kind of physical issue (such as bad knees) that keeps them from enjoying the manual, they have a long traffic filled commute or they have to lone the car to someone who can only drive an automatic. In any case, we've all worked hard and saved to buy our vehicles and I feel strongly you should be able to enjoy driving it the way you want (even PDK owners).

It really bothers me that Porsche would go out of their way to put a little annoying indicator in your face when you're trying to enjoy the car you've worked so hard to get. The fact that you used to be able to remove it and can't makes it even worse. I think if they want to put annoying "features" you should be able to decide whether they're on or off (like the auto stop start).
