Default I'm thinking mr. sound symposer needs to go

The piped in drone is a little strange to me after more time in the car. I tried to search for a sample, has anyone heard what a deleted symposer sounds like?

Also, when running an aftermarket exhaust, does that eliminate the symposer, or do some people still have a working symposer with an aftermarket?

I plugged my symposer a week after getting the car. A HUGE improvement. I can listen to the radio and if I want more sound ( I prefer exhaust note to intake noise) I push my PSE button!

Good to know. However, makes me think the drone I hear is the exhaust itself and not the sound being put into the cabin, if that is more intake.

Saw a post on the "other" 991 site where instead of plugging the hole behind the panel, they disconnected the hose in the engine bay and capped the connectors with silicone caps and hose clamps. Said it worked much better to quiet the cabin. Anyone try this here?

I also think the drone is the exhaust and not only the symposia. I plugged mine and I still get the drone in Sport or Super Sport.

That's why Dr. Porsche gave us the sport exhaust button. Wax-on. Wax-off. Very happy with the car's sound.

Symposer has nothing to do with the exhaust hardware hence aftermarket exhaust setup will not affect Symposer sound. Symposer sound comes through a tube routed from intake manifold into cabin. After market exhaust will probably mask the Symposer sound however. At least on my car it does. I have sharkwerks and just LOVE it!!!

It could be worse.

My buddies new M6 has the exhaust note coming through his stereo system to "add" electronically to what the tailpipies don't do enough of on their own. He's ordered a titanium Akrapovic.

If you want the drone gone the easiest way is pull the package tray up behind the rear seats and plug the opening. Do that before you pull the hoses in the engine compartment and use vacuum caps.

I replaced the center muffler with an Xpipe from Fabspeed last week and it removed the feedback sound from the symposer. All I hear is the engine and I added more HP. Low price simple install.

I think one of those empty switches on the center console should be an on/off switch for the symposer. Mine is stuffed with foam at the cabin end since week two.

The answer to this question has eluded and bugged me for a while. We all know (most of us anyway) that the Sports Exhaust has nothing to do with the intake... BUT.. does the Sports Exhaust button also shut off the sound symposer in addition to the flaps in the exhaust?

I ask because many people who have Sports Exhaust have not complained about the symposer(granted your tolerance for the Symposer could be different than mine).. also if memory serves correctly, a couple of people on the forums who had the Sports Exhaust installed after the fact remarked how much quieter the car had become after they had the sports exhaust installed when it is off compared to what it was before.

I don't have the Sports exhaust, neither do I have Sports Chrono.. and I have been putting off plugging my symposer too, but plan to do it at the next oppurtune time. Makes me wonder though, if I should have ordered the SE to keep the car quieter
