Default 991 Targa - More photos & review videos!

Porsche AG recently had a press event somewhere in Southern Italy to let journalists drive & review the upcoming MY2015 991 Targa. The latter should start to be delivered to customers by June of 2014!

But before I post some of the videos, first take a look at these photos of the Targa with the extremely bright 'Racing Yellow' exterior paint. As I have talked about it before on this forum, the Targa offers customers a unique design challenge...or opportunity, depending how you look at it! The rear glass & 'stainless steel' optik for the roll bar creates a clear demarcation line between the top & bottom half of the vehicle! As a result, you can experiment with bright exterior colors (either those currently available as standard & metallic or or those custom ordered via PTS) which might otherwise overwhelm the coupe (and often even the cabriolet models) if painted in that sole hue! So take a look at this Targa to see what I mean!

Eduardo

An interesting time comparison between the 1970 Targa (similar to my 911E) and the new 991 Targa...how long it takes in seconds to take the top off and put it away! It always will take me longer...because I am so careful as to not damage anything!

looks fantastic with anthracite brown, luxor and the sport design wheels

the Targa lends itself to the " less popular " colors

too bad you cant get the 911-50 wheels , which would be perfect as it would look just like the 1970 car above

I agree. Ice blue metallic PTS plus the Fuchs-style wheels would be perfect.

So what's the reasoning behind only offering Targa models with AWD? My guess would be it's a fairly low take-rate car with quite a few unique parts, so to minimize costs/improve profits they limited it to the more expensive configurations.

Other thoughts are improved weight distribution (gear up front offsets extra weight from roof mechanism out back), wider rear track of 4 better accommodates roof mechanism (doesn't seem likely), target audience prefers AWD?

I relate to the assessment in the Autogefühl vid, (with the brown targa). On target with my expectations and use.
On a side note, got my allocation for a targa 4S and have submitted the order. Right now its a November delivery, but the salesman feels it will move up now that it is in the system.
Looking forward to the 991 experience.

These are the wheels that would be most retro! (Photo #1) and then the '911-50 Anniversary' ones!

Franklin, keep us posted. Remind us again about your exterior color, interior & options! Thanks.

Are you going Postal? Or are going Pastell? In the US of A, it makes a huge difference...primarily in the what 'angry' reddish hues are highlighted in the finish! (See last three photos).

I agree...the Fuchs in # 1 with the set back spokes would be PERFECT with a black Targa hoop..it would look exactly like my ' 87 triple black Targa from long ago

Ha, yes, pastel orange... don't think it'll clash too much with the other reds on the build.

The racing yellow is stunning. The targa band with the top off seems to give the car a lower sleeker profile. This is my favorite 991 so far.
