Default Just ordered this oil travel bag.

It is supposed to stay in place with Velcro, similar to the first aid kit. What are you guys using to keep items from moving around up there?

Hello Ceepe,

I bought this and wrote about it in this post.

It works fine. It sticks up there with velcro.

What first aid kit are you talking about?

Its a little disturbing seeing so many brand new cars needing to carry oil around. I can't imagine carrying oil for anything less than a 3k mile trip unless…. oh, wait…. you guys didn't by any chance follow the factory break-in?

I have a red Porsche first aid kit, but I brought mine back from my Euro delivery trip. In Germany, cars are required to have a first aid kit and an emergency triangle that you set up on the side of the road if your car breaks down.

Hmmm so I'm curious Chuck, why don't you think it's prudent to follow the factory break-in recommendations?

I keep all my oil on a shelf in the garage. Only time I need it is when I get an oil change. NEVER need to add oil between changes (5,000-7,500 mile intervals, car dependant). I've always followed the proper break-in process.

Manual calls for an exceptionally soft 2000 mile break-in. Softer run-in has been correlated with more oil consumption. Harder run-in cars often use less oil through their life. However, lots of cases and opinions for both sides of the argument.

+1 never added oil to any modern cars

In the last 30 years, I have had to add oil probably twice. Of course, for most of that time, the service intervals weren't 40,000 miles.
