Ha! I absolutely HATE the concept of valet parking. I would park a 10 minute walk away before I would do that even when I drove beaters. I often stay at a fancy vacation hotel that eyeballs you when you roll up and motions you over to the "optional" valet guys. They keep reserving huge swaths of their large parking lot for valet only, and I keep on driving and parking further and further away. The last time they also started charging 20 bucks a night for what was free parking for years. There's a nicer hotel there anyway that's usually only slightly more expensive that still has free self park, so screw the other place.

Besides, we all know what they do.

Me too! The only occasion where it became an issue in my 991 was when I had made a non-refundable reservation to a downtown Austin hotel that had only valet parking before checking. I called ahead and asked if I could just pay and self-park, being prepared to lose the money and go elsewhere if I had to.
The guy on the phone told me they would accomodate me and when I arrived the valet guys had set aside a prime spot for me to use as I pleased during my stay. Found out when I left that the man on the phone was the general manager of the hotel.
It wasn't that "my car's more specialer than yours" as much as I didn't want someone who didn't know how driving my brand new manual transmission car up and down ramps, etc. I won't go to restaurants that are valet only.
