I've found just wiping with a damp microfiber cloth cleans up a lot of stuff, and tougher stuff cleans up with a little Speed Shine, Leather cleaner or something similar.
There is a thread on the 997 forum describing a process to refurbish if (for lack of better description) the micro-layer rubbery coating on non-metallic parts is damaged. I can't vouch for its efficacy though. BMW interiors/dash are filled with parts that have this coating, and it is so easily damaged with a fingernail, etc. - drives me nuts on my wife's car.
