Wow what a difference with the SS vs the P-Zeros... I don't know if there a difference but with Full Mode on the SS feels a lot better that the P-Zeros on Comfort Mode.

I am due for a tire change too and am most likely going the MPSS route too. I've seen the other recent thread on comparing tires too, but one question I have is does it matter that the MPSS are NOT N rated? I see almost everyone prefers these to the PZeros, but have not read much on the fact that the MPSS are not N rated.
As far as the size is concerned, are you sure the above pic is not the front Pzero compared to the MPSS? I would think by definition 295 width tires are the same size!

I'm looking forward to trying the SS when my OEM tires need replacing. It has been my experience that new tires are much quieter and better riding than worn out tires of the same brand. Absolute traction in dry conditions is likely better with the worn tires because they are closer to the slick. I have been very happy with the OEM tire above 40 degrees. I will switch to the SS cuz all the forums give them rave reviews.

N-rated only really matters for the lease cars, as Porsche mandates that they be returned with N tires at the end of the lease.
For the rest of us...go for the best tires available. N rated just means that Porsche spends extra time testing and optimizing that tire and tread for the handling of our cars. NOT that it is the best tire out there for our car.

Right. Its not even close. For one thing the new tire has a lot more mass of tread. Plus the rubber is more compliant. Tires get hard over time. But while a worn down tire will usually be more responsive (because there's less tread to squirm around) and feel more planted it usually won't have more total grip. It would if the tire was shaved or worn down fast with lots of track time. But usually it takes people a year or more street driving and in that time the rubber loses more grip to hardening than it gains in slick-like area. I always used to believe old worn tires gripped great too, but that was before autocross times revealed the truth! New tires are always better!

I love the SS for street, but they show their weakness after a couple sessions on the track.. they build up rubber clag and you get vibrations.. For some reason the more durable compound likes to hold onto rubber and its hard to scrub it off. I think that is why they are cheaper than the PS2, which i will get for my next set with track work always in my future ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

The width difference you illustrate is interesting. I have Sport Techno Wheels with 305's on their now. When I eventually replace those with MPSS's I will also use 305's but according to the specs on tire rack they are actually a bit narrower.
Pirelli 305/30-20
Section width 12.5"
Michelin 305/30-20
Section width 12.3"
