Default Porsche LMP1's flat four turbo into 991?

I have a real feeling Porsche will find a 991 street car use for its LMP1 flat four turbo engine. It would be too prestigious to just go into the Boxster/Cayman.

First we had the photo's showing some truly awful design changes anyone following Porsche should know are distractions, if only because of being so poorly done. Now those same obvious distractions are supposed to herald a whole new engine- and an LMP1 at that. Looking at the rules now its clear LeMans is all about eco-racing, all the way down to giving the cars a bloody energy budget, and Porsche has raced a 911 hybrid, so I guess there's that. But still, the way these guys make the jump from a few crappy cutouts to a LeMans turbo-powered 911 is just embarrassing. I mean I know they have to sell copy, but really?

Mb offers a 2liter turbo making about 345hp. It said that audi will offer a similar w even more hp.
So theres a chance we see a 4 in a cayman/boxster.

I wonder if a flat 4 is in the works

Off topic. Don't know if you are into that Chuck, but have you seen the new 2014 F1 cars and engines. Some make me wanna throw up. They are even limiting the amount of fuel per race. They can't even change gearbox ratios anymore. Everything seems on a budget, not only the energy. The pinnacle of motorsports is fading ...

Sort of makes you lust after the 917 days. Back when World Sportscar Racing cars were actually faster than F1 cars.

If they put a Flat 4 Turbo in the base Carerra, it turns the whole model hierarchy on its head. Then they'll have to put a Flat 6 Turbo in the Carerra S, and to stay above it all, the GT3 will need to move to a Flat 8 and the 911 TURBO will need to be a Flat 8 Turbo.

Hmm...maybe this isn't so bad after all.
