Nope...I have Lapis Blue and it doesn't look purple at all. I've seen other Blues like Ocean Blue Metallic look purple as I owned a 993 C4S in that color.

I had a cobalt blue 996 that looked purple in the sun. It took some getting used to.

The porsche DB has a touch of red in it. Hence the purple feel under some lightning.
I have a 3.2 in DB and it's the same effect. Its a matt color and ages pretty well.

The color you're describing is Ocean Blue. Ocean Blue also has green in it, but in certain well lit conditions, is decidedly purple. I had an OB 996 Cab.

I still haven't seen any purple in DBM. You can distort/filter light to give the appearance of other colors but it doesn't mean the color itself contains. I had a carbon black M3 which was a dark blue metallic from BMW that definitely had some purple in it.
This is as "purple" as I've seen it but it's really the low light and shadow not the color itself.

Default DBM

Dark Blue Metallic has no purple in it. It is a dark blue metallic paint, all blue, no purple highlights at all. I have a 991TT in the color and love it. See the thread I started recently in the 991 Turbo forum if you want very representative pics of DBM on a turbo. I highly recommend the color for sure!

Very nice looking color but, yes it does look slightly purple at times.
Mostly when dirty.
Looks great clean and polished.
Get PPF as every chip shows white primer.

+1. I had to think about this b/c my DBM coupe certainly does not change color under various lighting conditions to the extent, say, that my stratus grey 650 does. But while washing the car yesterday I did notice that at certain angles, in cloud filtered light, a purple haze appeared

Anyway, traveling through the Dolomiti after Z-delivery, it was dark blue all the way...

My eyes definitely see some purple in the Lapis Blue Metallic paint on my car. Really only noticeable in the direct sunlight but in those bright conditions the purple jumps out...

Holy old thread!

I had a basalt black 991.1S and it did look purple in certain light and in some photographs.
