much bigger car.
it has taken a couple of years but the 991 design is starting to grow on me.
interior is still average though imo (unless it's had exclusive bi-leather treatment)

I considered going with a 911 Cab as that would have a lower seatbelt mount and thus may fit me a bit better, but I want a sunroof, not a drop-top. In the Cayman S, I will be getting neither. But, I will be getting a car that feels EFFING FANTASTIC so I'm overjoyed about that! Thanks again for your inputs and will look forward to more rich discussion with you as my journey with Porsche is just beginning!
I'm 6'2", 180 lbs. My 981 Cayman feels plenty roomy. But then, I have been driving the 993 for 11 years and that car is tiny. Never felt that it was too tiny though, even when wearing a helmet.

One of the reasons I went with a Cayman and not the 991 is that the 991's exterior dimensions are bigger than what I like in a sports car.

Welcome to the Cayman world. Please check out Planet-9.com which is the most active Cayman forum on the web (no affiliation!).

If you read the Christophorus magazine devoted to the 991 launch they state forth rightly that the new 911 longer, wider, design came from the fact that humans were getting larger, thus the need for a new 911 design. So, you can blame evolution for the 991.

Can't blame the Germans for doing their homework.

The first iterations of the Caymans and Boxsters were made for circus midgets.

Though I was surprised when I could actually fit in an Brand new Cayman 2014 be 6'5" myself.

Now just go to a Honda dealership and try to fit in an S2000!!! That is a fricken clown car!

What I don't get is how Porsche could ignore such a large segment of the Porsche Purchasing populace when they designed the original versions. That is just plain silly.

Since Porsche has been the most profitable car company for quite a while now, I think they know what they're doing.

Besides, these days market research shows that most, uh, "larger" people tend not to buy sports cars and prefer SUVs instead. Maybe because they have more cupholders and places to put food?

For as long as I can remember American manufacturers made each succeeding model larger than the previous. When the first Mustang came out in 1964 is was a compact, but by 1970 it was a mid size car. I don't think people got that much bigger in six years.

I expect that there is a higher profit margin in larger cars.

You would really have a ball in an F1 car.
