I'm curious - are you able to open her up there on the roads in Dubai? In other words, how stringent are the police there on enforcing speed limits?

Dubai is pretty famous for speeding, in that until a few years ago we had the highest accident fatality rate in the world. Ever since then the government has done everything it can to control speeding, so we have speed cameras on almost every road, the more popular roads have cameras that are only 2 kms apart!

The police don't stop you for speeding (unless your doing like 250kph) they let the cameras take care of that, they even have speed cameras attached to the roof of their cars! They have cameras disguised in innocent looking vehicles, ones that shoot from the back, ones that get you from the front and many more.

Its pointless having a radar detector here because the thing would be beeping constantly. So when people want to "have a fun drive" we usually drive up to the mountain areas where the roads are good and the cameras are non existent.

Very interesting, thank you. So the quality of the roads are good - even outside of the city? My wife and I have been intrigued by Dubai, and will likely visit at some point. Are you from the area, or an ex-pat?
