I owned a 97 C2S for 12 years a great car. Other than they both are Porsches they are not very similar.
the 991 is comfortable, fast and makes a great daily driver. The 993 is the last of the old school Porsches.

Can you manage to do both? I enjoy owning both "old school" and "new school". The difference is quite impressive in many ways on both sides.

I would love to drive a new GT3 some time but need the back seats and would miss the manual shift. I hope Porsche puts out a lean club sport edition 991 with a manual for those who love to shift manually. Light, low, powerful and w GT3 steering feel would do it for me. I'm keeping my eye on the market for a used 991 base or S. For some reason I believe this anniversary edition may hold its value more than previous editions secondary to the wide body rear wheel drive and tasteful modifications(power kit helps too). Time will tell.

While having the oil changed on my perfect 95 993 at the dealership, I roamed into the showroom to find a sold 991 with no options other than PDK. Due to multiple back surgeries, I was having trouble with the manual 993. The deal on the 991 fell through so the dealership gave me a great trade on the 993 and purchase of the 991. I regretted the following. The 991 is a foreign Porsche which lacks the fundamentals of a Porsche but bears UNNECESSARY excesses. I drove the 991 for 2 weeks after purchase and asked for my 993 back. They asked me to tolerate the 991 for another week. I again asked for my 993 back but the salesperson who sold me the 991 had purchased my 993 from the dealership. I offered to purchase my 993 back from the salesperson but he refused. My intention was to sell the 991 when I received the 993. The bottom line is: "IF YOU ARE HAPPY WITH YOUR PORSCHE, DO NOT FEEL THE NEED TO UPGRADE. YOU NOW HAVE THE BEST OF ALL WORLDS". Retain your happy life. I will never buy another vehicle from this dealership.

I think Freeman is the exception to the rule. Some people refuse to move on and still heat their homes with a wood stove and use an ice box.

I have owned seven new Porsches since 1983 and take my word, this is the absolute best Porsche built so far. Best in comfort, power, handling and quality.

To get the most out of your purchase buy the S with PDK and sc.

Why? Because they would not sell you your old car back, that was not for sale?

I am neither the "exception to the rule" or otherwise. There are folks who like Rembrandt and those who like Warhol. I like both and can separate each. Can you?

Kick yourself especially hard if you sold the 993 at the time for a 996.
