It just looked to me that if you ordered the non turbo version (340 HP ain't bad) it seems only a small amount more than a similarly equipped Mercedes or Audi, and about 10K more than a Lexus or my wife's Infinity JX, and to be driving a Porsche! I think it will be a big seller for just this reason.

Just wait till the base model comes out with the 2.0l VW motor for around $42k with promo leases at $399/mo. (although no time soon)
And by the way, all the motors are turbocharged but the top model is the "turbo"!

Exactly. This will turn into the "I have a Porsche" car. The sad thing is the smart folks will just buy a VW Tiguan. Pathetic attempt at badge engineering , that many will fall for.

I wish people would quit calling this car "badge engineering." Platform sharing, but with Porsche given freedom to completely personalize it with their own drivetrains, body panels, interiors, etc. Very few parts shared with any other VAG product, same for Cayenne.

Call it what you like but the Touareg and Cayenne are more similar than different same with the new offering. I'm not against it, it helps the bottom line of the group but it is what it is.

We also had the same gen (first) of the two. Shared chassis, air suspesion, brakes, transmission, some engines, etc. Different body panels, different sway bars, different interior. Porsche did a great job of making the experience different but they shared their "guts". Same is true of the current cars.

I am totally baffled by concerns that it, the Cayenne or the Panamera somehow tarnish the brand. The only materiel grounds for value comparisons would be to compare the price per pound. They are sold in different markets, and add to rather than divide the bottom line. Might as well ask if Audi sports cars hurt the Porsche brand (LeMans don't count).

I agree, that's why I bought them and a Cayman for that matter. I don't care about tarnishing the brand. The Panamera though, I don't know, the rear is just soooooo ugly..probably tarnishes the brand a smidge... Maybe we can all find common ground there. :-)

I'd take the new Audi SQ5 and it's supercharged engine over the Macan Turbo any day. The Audi has similar performance numbers for less money. And the Audi looks better too. You're just paying thousands extra for the Porsche badge
