Look at the configurator and tell me if you disagree. Why can't they make a loaded 991S just a little cheaper? I know you have to pay to play. Maybe the discounts will get a little better with VW at the helm...

Yes, since I can build a well equipped 400HP turbo for about the price of the base Carrera with pdk only! But this doesn't mean the Macan is cheap, it just means the 911 isn't - but we already knew that.
Take sports car styling and possible tracking out of the Porsche purchase decision, and I would bet the Macan fulfills almost every other requirement and adds real utility and driving comfort. Then again a lot of other cars would too. And a higher visibility driving position above oncoming headlights would be nice too, as would a front end that isn't a sitting duck for stone chips and road debris... I like my Carrera so I better stop typing now!

Not sure you can associate the term "value" with any high-end sports car.
These are expensive toys and nothing more.
The same applies to a Maybach, Veyron, McLaren and the list goes on and on.
Once you get into a certain price range (IMO $100+) there is little "value" to be garnered.

also consider the Macan is a shared platform and doesnt compete w/ the 991.
same goes for the Cayenne
I just built the Turbo; $94,000!!!!
however $1400 for air suspension seems cheap.
the Carbon side blades are a joke.

When they see soft volumes, they put hefty incentives on the cars and move them out, then they go right back to raising prices. They make the best sports/track cars in the world, they have loyal customers, they can pretty much do what they want.

I thought of it more as a very expensive Q5. I don't really see the market for these small SUVs. They're too small to really have any utility and much bulkier than a sedan. With two kids, the X5 is as small as we can go and still have useable space. If the new Range Rover had a diesel in the US, I'd get that as our suv.

I just saw the car at the show...it's really cool! No matter how you label it, it's "sporty". It looks like a lot of fun to drive. I can't wait to try one out. They did a great job with the car & will sell them in large quantities. Just what management ordered.

Proper grammer teaches us to never use "value" and anything Porsche related in the same sentence.

It just looked to me that if you ordered the non turbo version (340 HP ain't bad) it seems only a small amount more than a similarly equipped Mercedes or Audi, and about 10K more than a Lexus or my wife's Infinity JX, and to be driving a Porsche! I think it will be a big seller for just this reason.
