Default big decision coming up!!

Starting to think about upgrading my "Base". Not enough for me to go into an "S" after my test drive. So, was thinking a GT3 or Turbo. UNTIL I drove an Ferrari F430 spider preowned with 3k mikes. Same price....yikes!!!! I knew I was upgrading but now may go to the dark side. Only a weekend car. We'll see. I have 4 months to decide...no decision until house is built

They are beautiful and fun single purpose cars. If you don't mind spending thousands for service annually, go for it. You can always sell it and get back into a GT3 ot Turbo, either of which will readily outperform a 430. You have the time to have it checked out by a fully qualified mechanic. The cost of repairing *anything* on the car will astound you.

Well said. And if you decide to make it more than a weekend car...

add to the list of "first world problems." Good luck with your decision. I suppose we can forgive a move into a Ferrari, but we draw the line at C*******. Plus it looks like the spoiler on your 991 is stuck, may as well get rid of it.

Have you been pre-qualified for a Ferrari? I'm asking because your avatar shows a meager stable, no marble tile, and unframed posters. Also, fun to drive? One slip like that is all it takes for them to suspect your lack of commitment and the whole deal falls through. I mean, you go driving a Ferrari, miles appear on the odometer, how's anybody gonna tell it from a Cor- er, never mind...

I am assuming the first part of your post was an attempt to be funny. And I am also assuming you aren't making am assumption on someone's wealth from their avatar, especially since I clearly said I am building another house and you haven't really seen my stable but in case you are interested, we do have a new range rover for winter and wife has an M5. Now are you sold? Have I been approved for a Ferrari. Haven't tried to apply for a loan since I am paying cash kiddo. One of the perks of being on wallstreet. The rest of the replies were actually value add so thanks to everyone else.

Here's an idea. Drag your feet, and wait for an early 2015. Maybe Porsche pushes the HP's on the S out to 415. Get the Power Kit (extra 35 for 2015??), and now you are in the 450 HP range.

Pluses- can still get a MT, sunroof, no crazy GT3 wing and driveability.

I would think you'd feel the extra 100 HP over your current base.

My apologies. Did not mean to imply you are not qualified to own a Ferrari. And if ever there had been any doubt, well it's out the window now for sure!

IMO

The 991 GT3 is THE sportcar to have for the knowledgeable driving enthousiast, full stop. Forget about that turbo.

Also, the 430 is an older car, it's successor 458 is much, very much more modern. But come on, honestly, they are just merely accessories like a Louis Vuiton bag ;-) They are "look at me" cars. V8 Ferraris sound like crap too to me, especially in lower revs they sound like a 4cyl alfa romeo, pale next to a 9000 rpm 991 GT3 howl. Added to that, the 430 spider would be like the previous gen Boxster in the Ferrari lineup !

On the other hand, if you could wriggle yourself in a V12 engined F12 berlinetta, ooooh, tempting !

YMMV
