Send me a PM. I have moved there twice from the US. Importing a car once. You'll need you car paid free and clear at least 6 months before you move to avoid tax. The inspection process - which you have to take your car thru within one year of importation - is intense and very detailed.

Thanks for the advice all! I haven't ironed out all the details of my package yet - so this definitely helps.

Yeah - and leave Suzy (name spelt correctly this time - sorry) alone - great thoughts.

I'm thinking used for a few years wouldn't be a terrible thing.

Dalema, I have imported three cars into CH and it's easier than you think.
You pay 10-15 sfr at the port of entry and you can drive the car for a year. Since you're an expat, You can then register the car and not pay taxes for three years (Z Plate)
Same goes for buying a new or used car in CH.

I didn"t know about this, but you are right indeed (I live here for just over a year, but not as an expat, so not much knowledge on that subject).

Here are 2 websites that could come in handy for the OP

Thanks - seems I actually have a few options. Time to research some more.
