Default Top replacement question for 2013 Cabriolet

I have had my 2013 Cabriolet for little over a year now. A little while back I noticed that I was getting significant rubbing on both sides of the fabric top. It was to the point I don’t think it would have lasted another 6 months before it wore through the outer fabric of the top. The dealership is replacing the top and fixing the area that is causing the rubbing. All this is being done under warranty. Unfortunately they have had my car for over 5 weeks now. At first they thought they could get it done in 3 days. Then I was told it was more difficult than the previous generation and it would take about a week. Then they told me they didn’t have any estimate of when it would be fixed because they had to order tools from Germany. Does anyone have experience with having their top replaced on a 991 Cab? I am curious what other people have experienced. I am starting to get nervous that they might not know what they are doing especially in light of all the part receipt notifications I keep getting in email.

BTW, this is my first Porsche.

5 weeks?

What dealer is this?

I think I would've waited until winter to have this done, or at least waited until the fabric was worn all the way through. Unfortunately it sounds like they're learning on your car, which is never ideal.

Yeah, 5 weeks is crazy. I hope they are making your October payment and giving you a 991 Turbo S loaner.

@hff They told me that metal inside the storage compartment was causing the rubbing. I don't really know more than that.

@Noah Fect The dealer is Porsche Stevens Creek in Santa Clara, CA. I kind of think they are using my car as a learning tool to. =( I should clarify that I really do like the service people there but in this case I am not as happy with them.

I wish I had waited until Winter but they originally said they would have this done in 3 days. =(

@LexVan 5 weeks seems excessive to me as well. They loaned me a Cayenne diesel. Not as much fun as my 911.

Those have a TON of torque, though.

Yeah definitely. If they don't finish my car soon I might be tempted to take it off road through the Santa Cruz mountains.

That's ridiculous. Ask to speak to the zone rep.
