Default Question for owners of 2014 C4S - about DVD Changer

Owners of the 2014 C4S ..

In my options, I selected the Burmester Audio Package..
Listed is a 6-DISC CD/DVD Changer. Is that to be taken literal? Can you play DVDs? If not, why call it CD/DVD changer?

You can play Audio DVD or MP3 DVD. 700MB or 4.5GB of MP3 makes a big difference... OTOH, does anybody still use CDs or DVDs these days?? There's a USB where you can plug in a complete harddisk with music.

If you want to play movies, you need the TV-tuner and even then I'm not 100% sure if you can play a movie via DVD.

Besides CDs, it can play mp3 encoded audio on DVD discs and DVD-A discs. The last is the now defunct format introduced in 2000. The Burmester system has the CODEC present to play these discs and sound is totally out of this world if you happen to have any DVD-A discs. I happen to have a small collection when my Acura from a few years ago had a system that could play them. They sell for a small fortune on ebay now.

I normally don't listen to CDs since I have a dedicated ipod connected with my music collection. But I do leave a few select CDs and DVD-A discs in the changer that I rotate in now and then, since the same music sounds much better even in CD audio format at a higher bitrate than the compressed 256 Kbps itunes music. The system is just that good.

Of course to enjoy the music you probably want to just be cruising along in Normal mode. I have a C2 without PSE, not the C4S (but it is the same sound system)

Since the PCM now has a 30g hard drive, I don't see why they still add the cd changer.... I guess so you can increase your jukebox from 10,000 to 10,500 songs!
