Default Track wheels and tires

What are folks doing for the track? Will the 19s from the Carrera fit on the S? TNA

Need more info, like:

Run group, novice.....fast group?
Do you trailer or drive to event?

OEM tires should be just fine for a novice DE event.

Super Sports, Pilot Cups, and Yoko AD08's would also all be very good for the above event.

For very experienced DE'ers and Club Racers, you need better advice than I can give.

Instructor and I typically run in open passing. Currently do not trailer but I may again. I'm likely going to order the roof transport and put the track wheels up there so I can have streets if it rains. Obviously R comps are severely limited in the bling 20s. An easy solution would be if the base wheels fit on the S at least there are some options in 19s. Unfortunately I doubt we'd get lucky and be able to fit 18s.

There is a really good active post on this topic in the 991 GT3 Forum. I'll try to find it for you. It might prove helpful.

I run the 19's BBS CH-R's (a little on the heavy side, but sturdy) with Michelin cups 255 front, and 305's in the rear. I'm planning on switching to a less expensive tire next season - 888's or Hoosiers. I have the S and I'm also lowered on KW's - no issues.

Good to know, I'm going to have the dealer swap with a base to see if those fit as well.

Has anyone actually done this? Seems like a lot of weight up there. I would be interested as I travel far to track events without a trailer.

Haven't seen anyone do it with a 991 yet but I've seen 997 guys and m3 folks do it a bunch. The rack is rated for 165 lbs and the four wheels and tires weigh about 200 lbs so you can stick one in the backseat in a garbage bag if you're worried about it.
