What Porsche to buy?
I am a former (2013) Boxster and Carrera Cab (2006) owner, both as a "weekend car". I'm going to order a 2014 Cabriolet and want some advice. I don't want 20" Wheels... Ride is too hard for me. So, I'm relegated to the base model. Questions:
I'm undecided between white, black top with beige full leather interior or black, black with black full leather interior?
Also, wondering what options are the "must have"s and why?
Thanks for any opinions you can provide.

Joel, welcome to rennlist.
Somewhere, hidden in the forum directory to your left is the correct place to ask this question. Here, our cars are old....really old.
Let me see what I can do to find you the 991 forum.

when I had my 96 I purchased it with 19" wheels and it rode very hard. Very little sidewall, so I actually downgraded to 18" which was available in those days. I haven't driven the 20"'s but I'm told and I have read that they do ride my harder. I'm in the Phila area and the streets can be a bad at times.

Just try some different setups and different cars. Testdrive as much as you can. You'll probably get a lot of different opinions here and in the end are you the one that has to decide. You better decide it on your own experiences, than on other people's opinions

I was also very leary of the 20" wheels. In fact, I was test driving Caymans until I drove a Carerra S. The car was so refined and comfortable I was amazed. Push a few buttons and you can change the personality completely. Win-win. And it looks nice with the big wheels, too, IMO.

Either my sensations have changed owning several cars over the past few years with 20" wheels, but they don't seem harsh to me at all. My Cayenne Turbo has 21's, and it is very smooth. Granted it is a totally different chassis, but Porsche does a great job with their suspension and large diameter wheels.

I'd actually say the S model with PASM on 20's is probably smoother/quieter/softer than my M3 on 19" wheels.

Its not the inside diameter size of the tire that causes the firm ride, it's the aspect ratio. A 20 inch 50 series tire would be just as smooth as a 16 inch 50 series tire, although the outside diameter would be much greater.
