Default Recommendations - 2013S got to go for 50th Anniv

Hi Everybody

Am switching out my 2013 911S for a 50th Anniv model due December.

Am in the Bay Area and was considering trying to sell the car privately but without any prior experience of selling anything like it previously am a little unsure of the market! Wondered if any of you guys had similar experience of doing so or better to suck it up and stick with the dealer?

Thanks in advance

Dealer is always a back-up option (last resort). See what they will give you so you know. Then use whatever networks you have (friends, neighbors, family, work, clubs, etc.) and post it somewhere like AutoTrader. You should be able to do better than a trade if you give it a couple weeks and are around the "private sale" price on Edmunds or other blue book appraisals.

Hi Jim

Thanks for your reply.

Plenty of time in hand so will give ebay a whirl - it'll be interesting to see what response I get!

Thanks again.

One other note - I assume that if you trade-in your car in CA that the sales tax on the new car is calculated only on the amount above the trade-in value. If true, that needs to be factored into your financial decision on the disposition of your car. So, you normally need to get the dealer's trade-in price plus at least what the state sales tax is to break even on a private sale. Again, not sure if this is the case in CA or not.

Becky - Just looked it up. CA is one of five states that don't permit it.

The Powerkit (X51) is also on the Canadian cars standard.
