Default Rock Chip and Dirt with the 305's

So I need tires on my 2013 911S and was going to go with the 305's in the rear just because they look pretty good. But, I wonder with it not being a 4S Wide Body if I'll notice dirt and pebbles, etc. being tossed up making it dirtier quicker and chipping the paint. That would not be good at all. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Same carrunning 305's without any problem. It's only 10mm. I don't drive gravel roads.

And that 10mm is only 5mm per side, so 5mm of additional tread width on the outside. I doubt you'd ever be able to note any difference in negative paint effects.

Hi everybody,

This is a very interesting topic as it would allow to use the new P Zero N1 spec from the 991.2 on the 991.1 2S. The tire comes only in 305 width and according to several reports it is much improved with regard to track use.

Are there any issues with getting Porsche to install these? My Porsche Center always refers to the official list of Porsche approved tire sizes and specs, which mentions only 295s for the 991.1 2S. Any issues with regard to the Approved Guarantee?

When I bought my 991.1 2S Cab (used from a dealer with CPO) it came with 305's on the back - they were new tires and installed by the dealer. I've got a set of N1's sitting in the garage to go on the car this spring.

From your avatar pic it appears you have SportTechnos. If so, that's why the car had 305s on it. The ST wheel is one half inch wider and the 305 is the standard tire size for that rear wheel.

My 2016 991.1 Black Edition with Sport Technos came with 305s. I believe they are 11 1/2 wide. Really loud.

Michael Schumacher wouldn't be able to tell the difference between 295's and 305's on a street-driven 991.

A lot of great responses on the 20inch rear 991.1 295 vs. 305 tires thank you. Even though I love the even wider fat *** look it brings to the 911S, I don't think they belong on the RWD versions. I think Porsche combined the two sizes for better bulk pricing hence profit maintenance while pleasing a few of us hard core old American Muscle guys in the meantime. K9PJ/4 mentioned noise which is another factor I hadn't considered, great point. Bottom line, I love the look but, I don't think they belong on the car. So new 295's on my 20 in, Classic Wheels.

Not sure of these responses. Most of them have less than 10 posts. I went from 245/295 P-0's to 255/305 PSS. Noise is reduced and track times have lowered. Tire size or manufacturer?? Dealer installed them so no problem with PCNA. Only time I've ever heard of PCNA requiring 295's is on a CPO.

Hmmm, I've been building different 911's on the Configurator and found that any wheel selection for a C2S yields 11.5" rear shod with 305's. Same for the C4S and the GTS bumps either wheel selection to 12" in width still shod with 305's.

Chuck911 has been around a long time. Kind of like a Box Jellyfish that moves around with the tides There have been several discussions on this subject.
I have not had to replace tires yet on my 991 GTS but when I had my 997 I changed stock 295 P zeros to 305 Michelin PSS (stock lobster claw rims) and it made a huge improvement in handling and ride quality. PSS is less expensive as well. Never understood why Porsche doesn't use them stock.

i went round and round on this. just ordered a set of r compound track tires 265/305 because there are so few
choices in r compound for 991. My shop swears they'll work fine. We'll see....

Very happy with the new 305/30x20 N1 P-Zero on 11.5inch rim - very sticky in both wet and dry (and good on track for a street tire), the N0 which I had on my 981GTS were fairly meh, particularly in the wet.
