Loaded C2S vs. GT3?

In light of the long wait to order a GT3, I'm looking at getting a loaded C2S instead (http://www.porsche.com/microsite/por...e/?c=/PEV76DI0). This would be a daily driver, probably never tracked. Is anyone else in the same boat? Did you end up happy with your C2S?

But in the hands of a professional racing driver, like Tiff, the GT3 would normally be faster. In the hands of a not so professional racing driver, the 991 would be faster I think.

Depend on what your plans are for the car, if never track the C2S would be more then enough. If I had more patience, I would get the GT3 instead, if I could start all over again. But meanwhile I'll keep modding my 991 and track it as often as I car and enjoying the drive to work

I drove a 997 GT3 before purchasing my 991 S. Loved both, but decided 1) the 997 GT3 was not as street able as I needed, and 2) the 991S was not at all performance compromised by comparison. If you are after a street car, and thinking about an older GT3 versus a 991S think no further. Comparison tests like the one in the video need careful interpretation. The 997 GT3 is wonderfully track focused, and compromised as a street car with its old chassis and suspension. For your time and use considerations application, 991S performance would exceed expectations and reasonable behavior at the push of button and throttle.

Additionally, you can't compensate for a GT3 by adding options (like leather covered steering columns, or CF covers) to a C2S. You may wind up paying the same for a C2S as a GT3 but, again, it's a whole different ballgame.

Based on the way you optioned the C2S, I'd say your priorities aren't necessarily along the lines of the GT3 anyway.
Options you spec'ed that I feel do not align with the GT3 philosophy ...
Burmester Audio Pkg - premium audio not available on GT3, if you enjoy audiophile level music you might not like the exhaust volume level in a GT3.
PDCC - I suspect that this system insolates the driver from feeling some of the road and car dynamic feel, likely something I would not use on the road let alone at the track.
If your car will be a daily driver and rarly, if ever, see a track - I'd say go for the C2S.
Other notes ...
Fire Extinguisher - I wouldn't pay $140 US for the minature fire extinquisher, there are excellent slightly larger options aftermarket. In general a fire extinquisher is for the driver and passenger to get away from a fire not to save the vehicle.
Electronic Logbook - Neat option if you need to bill clients for travel time or need to record trips to make tax deductions, otherwise I don't think it's very useful.
Telephone Module - GSM, requires a SIM card, this is basically a phone built into your car. You're going to need to dedicate a number for the car and forward calls to it.
My thoughts on a config GT3 lite configuration ...
If I were going to option a C2S in place of a GT3, it would be something like this: www.porsche-code.com/PEPHJJH7
Remember also that the C2S has the narrower body shell. The GT3 shares the wider body shell with the C4S. If you want rear wheel drive and the wider body the only current model that would work is the 911-50th Anniversary Edition which has a number of limitations on color and interior with which I would not be happy.

My budget is around $130k so I figured if I can only get the Carrera S I might as well option it out. Would still prefer a GT3 even if I can't drive it everywhere, because I love high-revving engines and will still have my M3 to use.

I love the aero package and the 9,000 rpm redline, even if it rarely gets used. And I'll still have my M3 for places I can't take the GT3. Spending the same money for a loaded C2S, might as well consider both.

Funny thing is that recently we had 3 members of our Cascade Porsche Club buy GT3's, one of which was GT3RS. Within one year all 3 members SOLD their cars ! GT3 just was overkill for them since all did not track their cars . I jokingly refer to them as the GT3 POSERS CLUB. Unless you are a track junkie, GT3 is OVERKILL.
