BlendMount and 991

I have the 9500 and I bought the direct wire from Escort and brought it to the dealer who told me it would be $175 to install. I then brought it to a high end car stereo installer and he installed it in about 10 minutes and charged me $40. He said it really is simple to do with the right tool and a little experience.

1st pic: cut double sided tape in half (width wise) to keep the telephone wire to stay behind the top pillar in 3 spots. Right side is where I put my phone with the dash cam application...works great...I highly recommend autoguard app for android...it can be set to turn on/off with bluetooth recognition from the PCM.
2nd pic: wire down the passenger pillar and across the groove in the dashboard. The flash really accents the wire, but is hardly noticeable in normal lighting conditions.
3rd pic: beige adapter at base of footwell.
4th. Coiled wire I pulled down to be visible going across to the outlet.
Hope this helps anyone looking to add a RD powered by telephone cord. Despite having double-sided tape on the windshield and an adapter that is pretty visible, I'm extremely happy the way it turned out. The tape and cord aren't visible at all which is the most important part.

hahaha please ignore the flower wallpaper hahaha...my entire home had wallpaper everywhere before we bought it. Tried to save a few bucks by telling the painters they could leave the garage paper alone.
In case anyone cares or thinks I like flower wallpaper and forms a horrible online opinion of me haha...gotta get rid of that stupid wallpaper...

Thanks Spyder - fully realize the blendmount is just the mount itself. They also sell some wire adapter accessories. One pic I saw recently, and I can't recall where now, it looked in the pic like the detector was being powered via the Type II auto dimming mirror. Seems a lot cleaner to power the detector from the mirror, if that's in any way possible? Again it's the auto-dimming mirror I have.
Lastly, how is the Blendmount adaptor for the auto-dimming mirror working out? Is it a quality piece, or a POS?
Thanks!

The Blendmount is for the physical attachment of the detector to the mirror as shown in the images on their website. Electrical connections are a separate matter as discussed in other threads on this forum. Most folks get power from the fuse box in the driver's side foot-well of the 991, and run the wire up to the mirror area by tucking under the A pillar.

Hey thanks very much Spyder - I just might take you up on that. I'm out of town traveling for a couple of weeks so it may be a while before I'm back in town. Coming back home this weekend - but have too much planned already.
A very kind offer and I'd be very interested to see how your install turned out.
Maybe send me a friend request (and I will too) so we can get in touch.
How are you powering your detector, still through the cigarette lighter or are you running something over from the fuse box? I'm a little hesitant to do the latter, as I'm leasing and don't want to make mods unless they can be easily undone.

I hardwired my V1 via the rear window fuse location (ignition switched) in the driver's side fuse box.

limey, I have a V1 so mute button/volume control is on the front of the unit. Not sure what RD you have, but this thread I started on 6sp has images of the Blendmount installation for at least two different RDs, including the V1...

Just installed Blendmount ID-POR-002 (BV1-2021) in my 991 with an auto dimming mirror for my V1 radar. Simple installation, great design. Here are some pics from inside and out. The white square is NY's Ez Pass electronic toll device.

Thanks very much for posting this. How are you powering your detector? I noticed they also sell some little wiring accessories along with the mount - I believe to make the wiring look a kitty more neat & tidy. Did you use those as well?
Thx again.

I plan on running it up from the V1 to the top of the windshield, across to the A pillar and then down to the fuse panel in the driver's side. I'd like to use the V1's Savvy connector to the ODB port. I know the Savvy plug will stick out a little from the fuse panel and not allow me to replace the fuse cover panel so I ordered another fuse cover panel that I plan on cutting out a notch to fit around the Savvy. It's coming from Germany so I won't have it for a few weeks.
I didn't buy the wiring accessories from BlendMount. It seems like a good option, but I'm hoping to be able to run the wire neatly without it (not sure how just yet).
