Sorry if this question was asked before but I tried using the search function and couldn't find a result.
I'm undecided between a Porsche 911S or an M5. I have driven both cars and both were amazing machines but now it's time for me to decide on which car to pick.
What I really want to know what is the difference between 911 and an M5 when driving them for a long period of times. I'm not really informed about sport cars which is why you see me hesitant between these 2 cars.
Do you think that I will enjoy the 911S more than the M5 ?
The 911 specs are as follows:
Black Exterior with Luxor Beige leather
Heated Seats
Chrono Package
PDK Transmission
Sport Exhaust
Mahogany Package
Clear Glass Taillights
Parking Sensors
These are the major options on the 911S.

Without knowing your personal situation, daily needs, family, commute, etc, only you can determine what is the right fit for you.
The M5 is extremely comfortable and their two suspensions don't compare.
The M5 is extremely heavy and its factory brakes are not what one might call "optimal".
The M5 is frequently referred to as being "disconnected" from the driver.
The M5 has prerecorded engine noise pumped into the cabin!!! (Tragic)
I came from an M5 and you really cannot compare the two.
One is a 4 door sports sedan and the other is a sports car.
The Porsche is the better sports car, handles better lighter etc.
The M5 is superior as a tourer sports luxury sedan.
What do you mean by "when driving them for a long period of time"? Long daily journeys or over several years of ownership?
If you Google your question, you'll find some real-life data and numerous subjective comparisons...
Good luck..
PS. Heated seats in Qatar??

I as past m5, e39, owner it pains me to say this but I hate the new M5.
If you need largish sedan, I'd rather buy a Panny GTS, AMG, or RS.
If you can make do w/ a coupe, 911.

If you can't decide between a 991S and a M5, two completely different car, then you are not passionate about either.
Find your passion, what ever that is, and go with that.

Once you start driving a sports car like a 911, driving any kind of sedan/suv thereafter becomes an utterly boring chore. It's a no brainer decision, unless you must have the add'l seating capacity of the m5.

I sold my 550xi for the 911. It came down to comfort vs sportiness. There is a lack of feeling in the M5 vs the 911. If you're using it as a DD, it may not matter, but for me it was a huge difference. Mountain roads and the track will thank you.

Do you really think anyone here, in a 991 forum, is going to encourage you to get the M5? Sounds to me like you want to be talked into the 991. Well, here goes: get the 991.

How on earth can you cross-shop these 2 cars??! They're completely different!
FWIW... I would get the 991 in a heartbeat.

I may be in the minority, but I sold my 997.2 and bought a 550 ( truth be told I sold my cayenne at the same time). As others have said, they are two completely different cars. While the 997 is different from the 991, I think that the 5 series is a much more comfortable car for commuting purposes - stop and go traffic, talking on the phone, etc. for a weekend/sunny day car, no doubt that I would recommend the Porsche.
I also prefer the M5 over the S6/S7 - IMO, no comparison of the interior look and feel - you only get two color choices with the Audi (black or light silver). I was reaffirmed with my BMW vs Audi decision earlier today when my wife brought home an a6 loaner - it is blah on the inside.
