This is exactly THE reason why I did not spec the full leather interior. Don't want the extra upkeep.

Bummer, but it could have been worse, maybe it can be carefully touched up with red dye?
My passenger door handle grip got many fingernail dents from my DE instructor's death grip which I assumed would go away - that was 8 months ago so I guess it's permanent damage!

I hate when something like this happens but, at least now a few others will hopefully learn from it. I think a good upholstery shop should be able to fix it. Just noticed the shift pattern icons though, is the chrome paint coming off or is it just the light ?
