Post Deviated stitching details for the 991

I splashed deviated stitching all over my 991 without really knowing what it would turn out like. Here is a video with the results, I hope this helpful to those looking to do the same.

Nice !!! In the end of this video, I noticed that another car with red stitching has also "Steering Column in Leather" with DEVIATED (red) stitching - how did the owner of that car get it from Porsche ? As far as I know, Porsche does not offer deviated stitching for this option ...

Excellent video, Nick. You did well with all of that beautiful stitching in your interior! Also remember that you also get an upgraded leather on the center console (the one with beautiful French stitching) when you order Option XHS! This is not otherwise available even if you order a full leather interior on your 991! The normal console is covered in a leather so tight and thin that it looks like 'plastic'!

Nick, if you don't mind, could you tell us the exact production date of your 991...and of the one with red stitching at your dealer that you used in the last part of your video. It might add some clarity to questions re: 'when these options went into effect'. Thanks!

Rus213 is correct in stating that, until very recently, deviating stitching was NOT available for certain interior leather options such as # XNS ('Steering Column in Leather') or even #XHS ('Center Tunnel Rear in Leather with Decorative Stitching')! See post #60 at link below:

https://rennlist.com/forums/991/7085...and-you-4.html

So if that is currently available to order, Porsche has recently made serious progress in allowing an interior to be fully coordinated with deviating stitching on all of it's leather bits & pieces! Perhaps Nick will fill us in on the production dates of his 991 and the other 991 in his video to confirm when these changes started to be seen in MY2013 production cars!

Indeed, while I was at Zuffenhausen in late April of 2013, deviating stitching on 991 & 981 seats were NOT available to order until Porsche selected & coordinated with the seat suppliers a new set of synthetic threads in deviating colors which conformed with the new 'standard' recently introduced for used exclusively in the seats (which take more wear & tear than most other leather pieces in the interior).

Initially, deviating stitching was available on 991 seats when production started. But starting perhaps in late in calendar year 2012, the seat thread 'standard' was changed and Porsche discontinue to offer deviating stitching in the seats, although it allowed it for other panels in the interior! Several custom ordered cars - including Graham Rahal's 981 seen in attached photos - that we have seen here in Rennlist have been delivered without a coordinated seat deviating stitching - although the rest of the panels looked just beautiful in the appropiate colored stitching!

So Nick is lucky to have gotten deviating stitching on his seats and XHS option!

Saludos,
Eduardo

For your info:
I have the following deviated stitching on my order now. (As far as I know this is all Porsche offers at the moment)

CLU deviated stitching on steering wheel (this option is in he configurator in the Leather Interior section)

24891 stitching front and back seats
24901 stitching dashboard (not included are the parts that come with option CZW)
24902 stitching upper doortrim
24905 stitching rear side panels
26741 stitching doorpanels (the center part)
26751 stitching armrests
26761 stitching doorhandles
90003 deviated stitching for option XHS (rear center tunnel)
90017 deviated stitching for option XWK (sport seats plus backrests)
90027 deviated stitching for option XNS (steering column casing)

I don't know what the U.S pricing is, but the total costs for these options in Switzerland is 4'975.00 swiss francs ($ 5,269.00) incl. 8% VAT.

Why does the steering wheel of the car at the dealer look so different? I love the way that looks! Maybe it's the wide angle camera, but that looks really good!

Thanks for the great video!

My car, which was built in Oct 2012, did not have the ability to have the steering column, the centre console, the rear tunnel, the steering wheel and seat backs in deviated stitching. I had to go after market for some of that, the results of which I am very happy with.

Interesting thread. Does anyone know if the hidden deviated stitching options noted by the OP are available for the Panamera? Thanks.

Sorry for late reply, my car was the last of the 2013 model (switched to 2014 about a week after I ordered) and there was an option for the steering column stitching at the time of my order (I did not take this but kind of wish I did)

Hi all,

I have a BIRCH GREEN PTS 991 C2 planned, given up on previous Mexico Blue as I have ordered a Laguna Seca Blue M5.

I want the stitching on the two-tone BH leather to be also Birch Green - code 253. I do not like the fact that there are areas of expresso leather that are stitched brown. Anyone know it there is a code to only change the stitch colour on the black leather MT shift boot?

I have CLU 24901 24902 24905 90027 - stitching experts please chime in. Am I missing anything?

CTX code allow for leather and stitching to deviate, but if I want the leather to be the usual black, is there a code?

Thank you in advance.

Can you be a little more specific about the exact colors you want in your interior? Maybe I can help a bit.
BTW. With option CTX you can choose the color of leather AND stitching. So if you want black leather with Birch Green stitching, you can just order that. (If it is available)

One thing I would recommend you is to contact your Porsche Exclusive department about this order. Dealers often don't know everything about every option and their configurator is limited in terms of exclusive options (at least here they are).

Thanks Suzy,

PAG says they do not allow Birch Green stitching, they have Peridot, but I do not think this is close enough to chance it.

Just going to stay with espesso/cognac. Shift boot I will keep black/black. I will match the SD steering wheel and steering column with expresso/cognac though.
