There are always going to be automakers that "target" the 911 sereies. What they can not even approach, is the pedigree and the degree of sophistication of developement that has made the 911 the icon that it is today.

of all the upcoming challengers, I think the Mclaren will be the most interesting.

I hate to offend the purists here, but my ideal car would be a C4S body with RWD (like the 991 50 Anniversary) with the 6.2L M159 Mercedes-AMG engine.

[I also agree with the comments that manufacturers are always targeting the 911, just like they are always trying to create a 3-series beater. Good luck!]
