It's great that even though it's probably the lowest hourly-rated job at the dealership, you never have to worry about someone who is training-on-the-job and not rinsing the wash mitt frequently enough or not using enough lubricating soap on the mitt after each dip.
You'll probably be all right.

It's a car for crying out loud- not some rare breakable nicknack.

"Hell, I thought the only people who posted here were ones that knew our cars are special and treated them that way. Learn something new everyday."
For me it's the driving experience of my car that's special- small swirls and such don't bother me.
To each his own.

Always try and tell them no car wash, and have them write this down in the service order - seems not to matter as they always default to this. It's their default mode and seems they opt for this before reading instructions.

I picked my new car up on Friday and told them not to wash the car. While I was waiting for mine to be ready, I watched while they washed two other brand new 991s, both with a pressure washer.
Ouch.

SMB-You are correct on both fronts. Very perceptive my friend. I guess if you are one of those parent types you have to get past that "I want it the way I want it" thing that us childless people take for granted.
The not tracking the car is a funny one. I participated in the Porsche World Roadshow event in Sonoma last month and watched the NASCAR race from there today and I feel even stronger now that I would never track my own car. Just couldn't be at peace putting it through that. Now if Porsche wants to keep letting me drive theirs...

If you care about your car's paint, you wash it yourself. However, my dealer has an indoor wash bay and mag chloride is massively corrosive, so in the winter time the rules get relaxed.

Here's a little something we give to all our clients
It's safe to say, until Porsche comes with a proper detailing technician certification, you're better off not letting the guys in the back wash or detail your P-car baby
