If they are the same price, I would definitely take the 4S.

4S model is $20,000 more than the regular carrera! Sports Chrono is $2000.

I don't have Sports Chrono, but I wish I got it. For the price, I think it is a good extra option. I did not do enough research and just took whatever dealer had in stock in the color I want.

I have sport chrono, and feel it unnecessary. Looks cool though. I'd definitely take the 4s. Hips, grip and light strip.

4 S - Sport+ is useful mostly for the track. Sport provides enough boost to responsiveness to add a touch of fun. The S + all wheel drive has all the handling anyone really "needs" and the additional torque over the non S is substantially useful.

I've honestly never used Sport+ on my 991 S MT... Sport is fine for the road, and I don't take it to the track...

I ordered Sport Chrono on my C2S because mine will have PDK and every once in awhile I hope to find the opportunity to use launch control just for giggles.

I like Sport + and Paddle shifting, very fast and aggressive mode, other than that its just meh.
Otoh, I'd take the 4S w/o Sport chrono over the loaded base hands down just for the higher torque numbers at low revs, there is such a big difference between the two under 4000rpm.

Don't forget with Sports Chrono you also get the dynamic engine mounts. That alone worth the cost.

Unless something has changed with the 991, sport chrono is a must with PDK. If it doesn't have it you can add it for about 2K minus the dash wart.

Do not think its a must b/c the 991 now comes with Sport mode automatically. Sport + was never used for me and wasn't a big fan of the clock on dash

Isn't a 4S just a "tarted up" base model? More power, wide body, 4wd- who needs those irrelevant additions?

The OP has presented us with two existing cars. Some options are must haves, ie PSE and PASM. Those would determine the choice.

When ordering new, for me no contest, base car !
