The closest I can come is that my PSE stopped functioning properly recently. It would sometimes get "stuck" on or off, and didn't obey the console button. I honestly can't remember what Service told me the problem was, but it was a quick warranty fix and now works as intended. Mine is also an early 2012 build, for what it's worth.

Can't find any PCM function controlling it so can only assume that it failed.

Anyone else with a similar problem and solution?

I realize not everyone likes it, but I personally do like it. Is there a way to keep it on all the time? I wonder if I could pull a fuse or rig it somehow to keep it on.

I dont think so. I want to have "sport" as my default setting and the dealer said no. I kinda wish there was a personal setting button, kinda like the "M" button im Bmw M cars.

The Car and Driver link shows that it's basically a flap controlled by a vacuum switch. If you could get to it, either plugging or pulling the vacuum line off would likely make it open all the time. Looks like it's buried pretty deep in the car.
