Sound symposer - stopped functioning
My May '12 build 991S's sound symposer stopped functioning.
Can't find any PCM function controlling it so can only assume that it failed.
Anyone else with a similar problem and solution?

There is not much to it - vacuum line, valve and tube to the interior. Warranty should cover it.

I put a small condensor mic in mine and wired it into the stereo system. Plenty of symposing going on now.

Really? Wow that's pretty cleaver. Similar to the M5 setup. So you're having the intake sound play through the speakers and can control the volume?

Nah, I'm just kidding. I haven't done it yet, but I've thought about rigging something up using my little Zoom H2 and the line-in jack in the glove box just for fun to see if it would work. They make some pretty small little condensors that would fit down in that space if it actually did and I wanted to do something permanent. Figured that line-in input should be used for something!
Has anyone that's actually gotten in there have any pics?

You guys are joking right?
As chuck stated above the sound is "piped" into the cabin -i think when in sport mode.
Bimmer's version is fully synthetic-there is no tube/pipe. The audio system reproduces the sound.

To the op, theres no controller in the pcm. You may have a faulty switch.

Leave it broken. If you want a good sound get an exhaust.

If you figure out how to disable it, let me know. It's the only thing I don't like about sport mode.
