Honestly, I wish I got the M3 Coupe instead. The hard-top that BMW have employed in their convertibles are not good enough IMHO. I would take the weight saving, cost saving and noise reducing soft-top any-day.
The new 4-Series does look fantastic, but if BMW insist on sticking with a hard top convertible system, then I'd suggest your wife sticks to the coupe.
The S5 convertible is probably a better option if she wants a drop-top, but I'd still go for the Boxster S if it were me.
This. I know the OP said his wife doesn't want a(nother) Porsche, but it's just plain crazy to buy anything else if you are in the market for a two-seat convertible right now. "There is no substitute" isn't just a cheesy slogan, at least not in the current market.
You can get a goofy 8-speed slushbox with a Jaguar, together with Lucas-only-knows what kind of reliability. You can get a second-rate driving experience from "The Ultimate Driving Machine," or a good-looking Mercedes two-seater with (apparently) 500 pounds of bricks in the trunk. Or you can buy a car that is basically a 911 with less power and fewer seats.
I can't see that the Boxster has any competition in this segment. Not saying that's a good thing, either, just the objective state of the marketplace at the moment.
Go for the Audi. Having come from a 335i, I feel that BMW has lost it's way. I could have been driving a Cadillac. For that matter, a CTS may have been more fun.
No... Only with S-Tronic. Only the A5 2.0 TSI is with a manual available. At least here in Europe that is.... But I guess it won't be different for the U.S.
Bunch of people I work with have the Tesla S. They all love it, but I haven't driven one yet. Really fast, pretty luxurious. But it's a fairly large car. Where I'm at (Bay Area), they're more common than Carreras!
Yep... So right..sometime I see a a bunch just in a matter of minutes
