Thanks to everyone for your suggestions! The new 4 series sounds interesting (I just read that there is a M4 coming too), also the Audi A5/S5 and the F jag. (In fact, I just saw the F Jag on the street today, nice looking car indeed!)
I am hoping that she will take me along for a test drive and that she will ask my opinion afterwards. After all, I know that I will have to drive her car to get groceries from time to time...
I know that this may be way off base, but has anyone driven a Tesla S? It may be too big and not sporty enough but just wondering aloud.

Bunch of people I work with have the Tesla S. They all love it, but I haven't driven one yet. Really fast, pretty luxurious. But it's a fairly large car. Where I'm at (Bay Area), they're more common than Carreras!

Being female myself I would definitly say: Get her an Audi A5 or S5 convertible. I've had one and it's a very nice car. But maybe I'm a bit biased
Or wait for the new BMW 4-series that's coming, wich is the successor of the 3- coupe and convertible. Allthough I have no idea when that hits the US-market. The 335 coupe is still the old model, so I would never get that one new at the moment, because of the upcoming 4-series...
4-series coupe. (Nice car imo)

Thanks everyone for the recommendations!
Wife has to make the decision (like kids and college!), so I feel like a middle man passing on all of your suggestions to my wife. I do hope that she picks a car that I would like to drive.
Suzy991, I take it that you moved from the S5 to the 991. Also, read that the new 4 series will have a convertible mode tool. Interesting!

Honestly, I wish I got the M3 Coupe instead. The hard-top that BMW have employed in their convertibles are not good enough IMHO. I would take the weight saving, cost saving and noise reducing soft-top any-day.
The new 4-Series does look fantastic, but if BMW insist on sticking with a hard top convertible system, then I'd suggest your wife sticks to the coupe.
The S5 convertible is probably a better option if she wants a drop-top, but I'd still go for the Boxster S if it were me.

I drove a 335 Coupe for a few years and upgraded to an M3 Convertible which has been my daily drive for the last 18 months or so.
