Does the Porsche Sport Exhaust improve performance at all? Or it is just changing the tone/note?

Performance gains will be very minimal, and the sound will improve slightly.

+1 on the PSE. I initially didn't include it in my build because I thought it was "just noise." However, my deliver convinced me to get it (I'm leasing so it added only a few dollars a month) and I am so grateful that he did. IMHO, it seriously enhances the driving experience. I have my car for only 2 days, but am loving it so far. Porsche builds a phenomenal car. I'm coming from a M3, but this is head and shoulders above.

Love PSE. Adds a lot of fun at the push of a button.

I wish Porsche would offer a "Sport" exhaust system that improves the performance, not just the sound/noise.

That will definitely justify spend $3G for it.

I wish that too. But realistically, the likelihood of any noticeable HP gain from any street worthy 3K exhaust system on a care that already gets 400 HP from 3.8 ptr is vanishingly small. The X51, with PSE, new heads, new intake manifold and higher lift cam technology adds 35 HP and no additional torque. That takes a major top end rebuild and costs X4 the PSE alone. The aftermarket offers many marketing gains for from 3-10k. But those that deliver the goods make major noise compromises that IMHO are not desirable.

Agree.

If PSE was about $1000, I would get it. Hey, if you ordered the car with it, Porsche is saving money on not having the standard system. I feel that they should only charge the difference in cost for the 2 systems.
I wonder how different the standard system is compare to the Sport system.
