Just purchased a 2012 991. Agate gray with Carrera s sports wheels. absolutely love the car. Drives and handles a lot better than my old 997. Just had a couple issues if you guys would be kind enough to respond.

1) the sunroof ( when its in open position) rattles when I go over a bump. Has anyone experienced that and what did you do about it?


2) when I come to a stop while the a/c is running I hear something in the engine compartment. It sounds like a clicking noise ( NOT the type of compressor clicking on/off) .

My roof has rattled from day one. Supposedly there is a recall on it. There is an open campaign on it.

 

Sunroof clips need to be replaced. A very common issue. Dealer should know about this. Roof liner with be removed and the retaining clips replaced.

Regarding your engine clicking noise - Does it increase with RPM's or does it remain constant?
Does it make a difference if the AC is on or off?
And most importantly, it is intermittent?

 

thank you for your responses. clicking noise only clicks one time just when I stop. rpm has no effect on it. yes if the a/c is off it does not make that noise. No it is not intermittent.

I just have a feeling that it has to do something with the a/c running. Does anyone feel any difference when driving with the a/c on than off???

 

Do you have the Auto Stop/Start On? That's what you're probably hearing...the engine starting.

 

Ironically, my 05 997 had the same issue. They did fix it. Patience. Not that I used the roof all that much. My 991 is perfect on that score.

 

I have an early build 2012 that has had a couple of rattles tracked down and fixed. The sunroof has operated without any problems at all. No noises from the engine compartment except the sweetness.
