Bone stock 991 on crappy Goodyear F1 street tires. No mods, no options, just a base 991 with a sunroof.
Running 1.35-1.36 lap times at Thunderbolt. I was driving about 9/10ths in the red run group. Incredible car... Except...
The rear brake pads disintegrated (and I drove with PSM OFF all day).
Car also ran hot, even though it was 55 degrees....
Car needs True PSM off switch, ABD defeat, pagids, 3rd radiator for the track. Also needs an alignment and better tires...

That was some good driving. I have not seen that track before -- looks like a tricky right hander with the double (triple?) apex.

I ran my 991 3.4 pdk (no performance options or sunroof) at Lightning last fall and was very satisfied with the car. I left the PSM on (just in case I needed saving) and probably wasn't pushing as hard as you, and the tires and brakes made it through just fine. I think Thunderbolt is more demanding especially with that tire grinding corkscrew. Keeping the revs up during track driving the 3.4 felt adequately powerful and I was hitting the same top speeds on the straights I used to in my 996TT - no regrets!

Here's another session from Thunderbolt in the 991. Got crushed by a Boxster with a huge wing and a 996 Cup car... Need alignment, tires and more nerve going onto the front straight....

Really smooth driving there...I agree about heading onto that front straight from under the bridge--a definite sphincter-squeezer, especially if your car is primarily stock. I saw an S2000 go off there and it was pretty.

I think the fast drivers go flat (with no lift or brake) heading onto the front straight all the way out of the octopus. The fast drivers also brake less going into the uphill...

Great driving
Is it the stability control that kills the rear pads?
The car is a manual.
Does the S come with 3rd radiator you could fit? The GT3 will..
Try PFC pads maybe and add some cooling?
Only been there once and it took me 7 sessions to go flat onto straight. LOL
Great track except for stupid octopus turns.

It is my understanding that PTV really works those rear pads. I will test that theory as some point in the summer. The S does not come with a third radiator. You can buy OEM and have it installed. X51 does have the third radiator installed.
