Hi guys! Great thread Eduardo!!

I just arrived in Munich yesterday. I am travelling by car to Stuttgart tomorrow. My factory tour reservation is at 2pm. I was planning on staying the night so I can go to Porsche and Mercedes museum also. Can someone recommend a Hotel? Should I stay in Stuttgart or Zuffenhausen? Any tips are welcome...

I stayed at the Althoff Hotel am Schloßgarten in Stuttgart and found it fantastic. It's near the hauptbahnhof. Great rooms, huge breakfast in the morning, and the bartender is a really nice guy.

Enduro963: I am a little late in responding...but maybe it might help the next person inquiring about this subject.

If your primary focus is Porsche, by all means stay close to the factory in Zuffenhausen. It will be cheaper than staying in center city Stuttgart...and you can walk back & forth to the Porsche Factory, Museum and Zentrum (dealership)! And it also takes you just a few minutes by train (S6) to get to Stuttgart Main Train Station and from there the airport, Sindelfingen (MB main factory), the Mercedes Museum at Stuttgart-Untertürkheim, the Cannstatter Wasen (Beer Fest), etc.

Here is where I stayed for three nights while I did my in-depth factory & museum visit last April. I booked via Hotels.com and it was only 60 euro per night!

Enduro963: Hope to see you around Carmel during the Historics in August!

Saludos,
Eduardo

Great thread. Thank you for taking the time to share your visit, and for the amazing detail. I visited the factory several years ago, maybe 10, and the "old" museum. What a treat it was. To my surprise even my wife loved it. I'd love to go back. BTW, you didn't happen to see my new black aerokit GTS coupe, did you? It exited production last Friday, and is supposed to be delivered to Emden this week. Do you know, are the cars delivered to Emden via rail or truck?

Again thanks for the post. It should be a sticky!

This is a 2013 thread, so probably not!

While the original post is old, if you can plan your trip far enough in advance you can fit quite a lot in one entire day. Last year we worked several months in advance with Jamie Dillon and got the factory tour in the morning, lunch reservations at Christophorus restaurant with table by the window, and did the museum tour right after lunch. At 3:00pm we took the train over to the Mercedes museum and stayed there until it closed. then dinner in Stuttgart. Tiring like a long day at the track!

Eduardo,

although I am living in Germany I was not able to find a Hotel in Stuttgart Zuffenhausen for my family (4 kids) for the delivery of our 991 GTS Cab. How funny, I read your old thread and saw the picture of Hotel Neuwirtshaus, called them and they have two spare rooms!

Thanks for your help

Kind regards Burkhard

That's too funny! Guess I should have read the fine print. To much time on my hands waiting for my new GTS.
