C4S in the Snow
All,
I live in the mountains in California part time, and so I'm in heavy snow quite often. I am able to plan my trips around storms, though. I previously owned a '04 Cayenne TT and now an Audi A8, both of which have be great snow cars, with the proper tire set up.
My last 911 was an '03 Targa, but I miss driving the 911, and am seriously considering a C4S.
Does anyone have any experience with C4S in the snow, with proper winter tire set up?
Thanks!
Craig

I don't know about a C4S, but I drove a demo C2S with winter tires I. A few inches of snow and it was awesome. The biggest and really oly issues are: clearance and other idiot drivers.

I got a C4S in early February this year. I put Pirelli sottozero tires on just in time for the epic nemo blizzard and several other snowfalls of 2-4 inches. The car was fantastic in all conditions and tremendously confidence inspiring.

Burning Brakes
Snow and ice for a C4S with good snow tires is not a problem in terms of traction...but snow depth is. Plowed roads are fine, but 4-5 inches was enough for the car's enclosed undercarriage to cause the car to sit on top of the snow and lose traction. The wetter the snow, the worse...particularly if you'll be dealing with "Sierra Cement."
That said, on snow and ice packed roads, my 997.2 C4S was a blast - like bombing around in a go-kart, big fun! I had a winter setup for my 997.2 with 18 inch wheels, added a little more rubber cushion in the event one were to slide into a curb or something. That setup does not fit on my 991 C4S however...not enough room in the barrel of the wheel for the brakes, etc. You'll need at least 19s for the new car, and the price of the rubber increases with each wheel diameter.
