I sold my 997.2 S MT last year. I test drove a PDK 991 S launch car as well as a PDK 4S with SC and was impressed with them but not enough to purchase them. I was then considering a switch to Audi R8 V10 and even a ///M5. I test drove them both and although they were great cars, something was missing. Can't put my finger on it. R8 already looks dated to me and the V10 did not sing as I expected it to.
I purchased my 2013 991S MT about a month ago. It is fantastic. Something about a third pedal and the stick. For me, they are essential to a great driving car. PSE is a must. I love it. It transforms the car. One thing that was lacking in 911s in the past (for me) was the visceral engine note. Some rennlisters have voice their distaste for "rev matching". I find it as a huge plus. I drive mine in Sport plus close to 100% of the time. Rev matching is activated when the Sport+ is engaged.
$70K difference is a significant amount of money. Is it worth it? You will answer "definitely" when you are behind the wheel. You may think otherwise when you wake up in the morning. Goodluck.

After having paddle shifters in Ferraris, I thought they were the only way to go, so having PDK in my 981 was no big deal. But when I test drove a 2013 991S with a MT I fell in love and purchased it. Although clocked slower, nothing feels more sporty than a MT in my opinion, no disrespect to PDK owners.

Currently have a 997S.
I drove a PDK 991S at the time of launch and didnt like it. I thought it was too refined at the time (no offense to anyone).
I drove a three pedal 991 C2S and C4S yesterday and loved them. Why the change of heart? I have no idea.
Beyond passion and price (997S traded + $70k outta pocket), what's the criteria by which you would make the decision to move from a 997S to a 991S?
