"Just a 911" (Rant)
While I'd like the extra power that comes with an S, I'm not complaining.
What I can't STAND, however, is how every other day someone hears I got a Porsche, and they ask what kind. I tell them it's a 911. Then they ask which one. What am I supposed to say? Just a plain old 911. Sorry folks, it's not a S, it's not a GTS, it's not a Turbo. "Oh" they reply, like they feel sorry for me.
It's really beginning to annoy the hell out of me. Most of the people asking are just trolls anyway, driving Subaru's and occasionally BMW's. I feel like saying "well, what the *#%Q do YOU drive, a-hole?" but I just bite my tongue.
Imagine coming up to Ray Allen, asking what he does, hearing he's in the NBA. Then someone asks him if he was on the all-star team. No. Sorry. Just the all-time 3 point leader, but no, not on the all-star team this year. Just a noob. (Good analogy?)
While I'm ranting, NOBODY around here with a 911 waves. I think I live in a wasteland of non-enthusiats.

To their credit, Porsche does make so many different versions of the 911 that it is tough to keep up. Add to that the longevity of the model, and it is a perfectly fine question.
I typically say "a new 991 style, base Carrera". You could also say "3.4L, and it's got a 7800RPM redline! really sings up there".

You drive a brand new Pcar, personally, I couldn't give a rats you know what, what anyone thinks, says, or feels. Non car enthusiasts can't tell the difference, or really care about the difference between models anyway.

Haha that's funny I have only had my base for a week and already a few people have done the same to me. Not randoms but my friends and people I know. They almost unanimously ask if it is a turbo. I then say nope, just the base carrera. They are not being rude.I find that people who are not car nerds just have the word turbo associated with 911. Some do not even know that 911's come without a turbo lol One thing is for certain EVERYONE loves it. They want to get inside, go for a ride, know more about it. I live in a relatively blue collar market as well, so I was sort of expecting a snide remark/look by now. Nope just love for this beautiful machine.

when i had 997.1 and 997.2 people would always ask me that, and say "oh its not a turbo".. or ask if it was a turbo and be sad when it wasnt.. i would say to them, if you thought it was a turbo you need to do some research cause they all have side scoops..
people just want to make themselves feel better by discrediting what you have, its a common occurrence i have found.... by you not having a turbo it makes them feel better about not having one at all.
