Default Car & Driver's Convertible Comparo

In the latest version of C&D, they compared the 911S Cab to the M6 Convertible, SL65 AMG, and the XKR-S.

After very recently purchasing a 911S cab (and considering some of the cars above)... I'm very glad that the 911S took the win (for whatever that is worth)!

Another totally subjective C&D comparison test. Porsche wins it with the best "styling", fuel economy, tranny (only manual in the test), handling, and a big boost in "fun to drive" (10 points over the M6).
To be honest, I really like my coupe but if I was looking for more of a "look at me" convertible cruiser, I'd probably pick any of the others!

I'd give you the Jag probably wins by a small margin in the looks category, but not the others. To most people, the other two just look like a standard BMW or MB. It's also interesting that they finally compared it against reasonable competition, rather than a Lotus.

Sport Auto in Germany did a performance comparison between a base 991 and a M6 coupe. While the M6 outperformed in straight line on the track (Hochenheim Ring) the 991 was 1/10 second faster.

Car And Driver's "Hot Lap" section shows the 991S being quite a bit faster:

That said, many of the times seem a bit questionable relative to others. Different times of day, different drivers, different wear levels on the tires maybe?

God - I keep reading the title of this thread as....

"Car and Driver's Convertible Camaro"

....and wondering why the hell someone would post something about a Camaro here...

I read C&D cover to cover and enjoy it a lot. I read it for what it is though, strictly entertainment. If they didn't subjectively like Porsche, I'd likely find another magazine. I like to hear how my team is the best

I own an SL65 and a 991. It just depends on what kind of mood you are in. All of those cars are fun to drive. Well, maybe not the BMW.

C&D forgot the female factor in their review.....................

991s cab- beautiful women are speechless in this car (or short of breathe)

M6 cab - muffy and the other SDIQ's only want to find the nearest latte drive thru

SLK5.6 AMG cab - perfect car for taking granny or mother in law to mall or church

XKS cab - ok looking car but women passengers should have backup ride for breakdowns
