As I write this I am finally having the Installed Radar and laser system installed.
I found an installer that I am comfortable with or as comfortable as I can be. They do very high end home theaters among other things. Not some kid banging subwoofers in the back of cars. I'll post some photos when I get it back.

i'm doing the same install: custom 991 radar mirror, bel stir plus and hp quads. having it done by an experienced shop, but they mostly do the escort 9500ci, so there is still some concern here too.

no question l.i. is a superior product over competition currently, and the zr4 shifters are obsolete. i suspect escort will come out with an upgrade shifter soon, but no word on when this may happen. plus li is firmware upgradable free of charge forever, escort not upgradable.

I did not mention it but I got the radar Mirror also. I had them do a blue LCD, I would not do that hard to see when it is bright out. I would go with Red. Make sure the LI control box is easily accessible for updates. He put mine in a tough spot. The install was very clean, the radar control is in the back of the little niche in the console, the switch for the LI is in the front of the same niche.

I drove around a bit yesterday afternoon and only got some false alarms. I am sure over time it will learn them and quiet down. I'll get photos when I can.

great tips! my installer echoed your comment about the blue vs red display. did you use the led signal lights in the dash also? seems useful for stealth notification. also, how easy is it to turn the sound notifications off for the l.i.? just curious since there may be times when you need to run the systems silently. thanks,

Id be very interested in this as well, i have the escort version in my truck, will probably go for the beltronics in my 991 along with a laser diffuser. Im not really happy with the laser capabilities with the escort, got tagged in texas and didnt even get a notification, let alone a block.

The LI does not have a visual display, you want Audio. Right now I think laser if few and far between so you really want to hear it when it happens.

With the display in the mirror and audio I did not think the LED was needed.

ds, will the li integrate with the bel stir to notify by mirror display? my understanding was that it is a separate system from the bel and not integrate-able if you will. thanks,

I it is a voice system, if there was an indicator it would be a simple LED giving no additional information.
The speaker add on is plenty loud and I don't see a need for a display quite honestly in either system. It is nice on the Belltronics unit because to make setting adjustments it is easier.

Radar Mirror who did my mirror does offer a LI display, I don't see a need though.

After a few days I am seeing the benefit of GPS add on. There are not a lot of red light or speed Camera's in MI but for repeat false's it is great. I have seen it mark a false after multiple passes. Your normal routes should be false free within a matter of days. That is very important because you will tune it out if it is constantly going off.

Interestingly I have not experienced a trap so I have no feel for its sensitivity.
I may have caught some but not seen the LEO so I did not identify it as a LEO.

Beyond tests I also have not hit a laser trap which I don't expect to frequently but I knew that going it. I did get tagged by Lidar and got a ticket in a different car.

Still haven't got photos, I will try this weekend.

posting pics of my bel stir plus, radar mirror with red LED display, laser interceptor hp quads, and custom install of console into ashtray. note also (no pics) that the power switch for the l.i. system is conveniently under the steering column next to the steering column adjuster switch. for the those in the know, it makes it easy to "jtk" by switching it off after slowing down on a laser threat.

thanks to nicoli for the referral--i had it installed at benchmark motoring with justin kairis. i highly recommend him for anyone interested in this set up!

Love the install oldman. Unfortunately I'm on the other side of the country. Do they sell the ashtray cover with the extra power supply? Do you know how they got the power there? That is a really slick solution with the extra power supply.

ma, the power supply was already there as part of the " smokers package" but they managed to slip the bel console in there. the l.i. power switch wouldn't fit in the ash tray, so that's why it ended up under the steering column. if you do not have a smokers package, then like detroit shooters setup, you can fit both in there.

Thank you. My car will be here in July, I did order the smokers package. I had forgotten the extra power supply is there, very cool. I love the controller where yours is and I think I'm going to go for the display unit on the steering console. I'm looking for a holder that will hold the display unit there.
