Yep. Ordered Jan 2. Picked up car April 13.

Much better than me. The wait just make the delivery that much sweeter. You will forget about all that wait once you drive it.

from where do you get these information ?

I made an order at the dealer last week 20/MAY and they told me that the delivery will be after 4 months and it might be extended to 5 . I already provided them with my email address but until now i did not receive anything regarding build date/estimated delivery date...etc .

If you have to wait for a ordered car for more than 3 months, you are probably working with a dealership that does not have many allocation slots. The number of allocations is determined by previous sales and some delaers have to put customers off because of this. The largest dealers in the country (Champion in Pompano fl, Auto Gallery and Beverly Hills in LA) have so many allocated slots that you pretty much canorder your car with 2 1/2-3 month wait at the outside (unless you have many customized options).

thanks for your reply .
i'm guessing your answer is totally correct , as the dealer is only taking orders from the customers, no immediate action can be taken . and most of the orders takes 3 - 4 months .

I'm living outside the states , to be specific i'm in Kuwait - Middle east .

i heard that the factory is being shutdown during August , is it going to affect the delivery ? and about the delivery information , from where do i get it ? is the dealer going to send me an email with all the information once my order is in process ? or i have to ask them ?

this is will be my first porsche car , and i do not know how the order mechanism works .

You're lucky not to be in Canada. The whole country gets few allocations as we don't buy many cars. I ordered mine last October 1, it was built January 18 and delivered March 15/13. 6 1/2 months! At one point they were talking February build!

Actually it use to be true that the factory closed in August but I understand now that they have more a rolling schedule of vacations. I think there is a slowdown in any case.

The factory is closed for tours in August but I think there's still some construction along with this is when they do their "maintenance" projects in the factory.

I'd be very curious to find out what the numbers are per country - in our little dinky country of South Africa the volumes are pretty high! High enough that my dealership (Porsche Johannesburg) is apparently the largest dealership in the world! (Bear in mind we only have 3 dealerships for the whole country and the Johannesburg dealership serves a very large and heavily populated area)

My order (excluding my own delays and preference for a MY2014 car) went in at the end of May, build was completed by the 9th of June and I'm told it will ship out of Germany on the 27th of June and be in country by the 17th of July... from there, it goes through whatever processes they do on this side and I should have it by the end of July or early August.

Apart from a decent volume of 911s, the Cayenne is an incredibly popular SUV, exceeded only by the BMW X5

I afraid that isn't the case. Champion Porsche in Pompano, Florida is the largest P dealership in the world having sold over 1500 units last year.

Didn't even realize that when I visited there in November. Nice showroom though.
