Default Nice deal on a Red 2012 991S Cabriolet

I have been looking for months and almost pulled the trigger on this one. The only reason I passed is because a local dealer had a killer deal on a black 997 Cab so I went with it. I was super close to getting this red one.

They will take $102k if anyone is interested. Good deal for someone, I have been looking for over 2 months. It was a launch car and MSRP was around $132k. The guy I was working with was Ryan, good rep, sent me lots of photos and videos.

Hope someone here gets it.

A 2012 model year for sale in early 2013 at $30K off a $132K msrp after 4000 miles as a dealer demo car seems like a fair deal. I wouldn't call it extraordinary, but it goes to show the bloom is off the rose. Someone should be able to drive this 10K miles and get out for maybe another $10K in depreciation – that strikes me as pretty cost-effective motoring in a very nice car.

What would concern me is the 2000 mile break-in. Is that risk worth the savings?

It's really nice of the OP to pass this info on. I've always been impressed by people on this site doing nice things like that. I agree that the "bloom is off the rose" as it's almost a ~ year since intro. $30k off is great. Any concerns on the treatment should be taken care of by a dealer PPI. Cheers.

Looked like a trade in rather a launch car, since it sits in an MB dealer. There are also a few mistakes in the descriptions by the MB dealer.

Not saying it's a bad deal.

If you want black, a dealership in Austin, TX has a nice black S cab for $103.5k. Listed at $107.5k, they will take $103.5k. MSRP close to $132k. 3k miles I think.

Why couldn't it be both?

Black seats in a cab in Texas. I had one car with black seats in Texas, and during the Summer I just left it in the garage. I would dread getting in it after it sat in the sun for 30 minutes.

The other concern is that it is a base model. A highly optioned base, but still a base. Even though the biggest depreciation hit has been absorbed, most of those options are going to be worthless from a resale perspective in another 3 years.

Both the ones I mentioned were the S models. I have black in Texas and don't mind it. I like the heat and with the air on and seat coolers on its not too bad! I'll take the heat over the cold and snow any day!

Both the red and black were launch cars with all the best options. I did a lot of research and these were the best deals I found.

Is there a good reason to prefer a launch car over a regular trade in or non-launch car, other than the loaded options?

That's the main reason to get one, the options. Pretty much all launch S models were around $132k.
