Any Inherent 991 Issues?
#18
honestly I am afraid of getting a speeding ticket every time i get in this car. Unlike my 997 this car really really wants to be tacked up past 6000 rpm. By the time I do that in third gear I am usually traveling well above the speed limit. I received my first speeding ticket within 800 kms of getting the car. And the sound of the PSE ..........becomes unreal close to redline.

Same here. My 991 was one of the first to come over to the U.S. Not a single problem. I imagine the fear some had about buying a "first year model" helped me to get an even better deal. I'm as happy with my purchase today as I was when I got it many months ago. It's my fourth 911 and easily the best car I've ever owned (911 or otherwise).

Now these issues, on the other hand, are legitimate concerns!

rattle rear quarter panel has been in three times going back in manana - ive tried shimming the window, putting a towel under the panel pushing pressing smacking while driving NOTHING has worked. The dealership is aware this is the only thing I hear when i drive and ruins the driving experience. Opening the windows drowns it out but its too cold in NY! Radio cloaks it but must be really loud. Theyve already replaced the pass door panel and roof liner

My ony regret is not buying it sooner....

It is indeed a great car.....but, coming from BMW I am a bit annoyed about the rattles. I had a NASTY quarter panel rattle from the back passenger side which took three trips to fix. My side mirror switch also rattles when the radio is on (low frequencies) and I have at least three more areas in the front which produce rattles when I go over small bumps. I will continue to bring the car in until it is fixed, no compromises. I will like the car even better once these minor flaws are fixed.

I have a BMW for my below 40F driving days and I have zero rattles in my 991. The only inherent issue I have is the withdrawal I'm suffering while not driving it in a cold, Cleveland winter. I am considering moving so that I don't have to garage the car for 4 months every year. Anyone from Charlotte around here?

86 3point2: I have not put any cold/snow tires on. I have a 328xi coupe under lease until April so I drive that in the winter. I don't want to expose the beauty that is the 991 to all the salt and potholes / craters that a Cleveland winter has to offer. My mom has a 991 that she put snow tires on and she drives hers in the winter, though she puts on very few miles. She loves the snow tires and has had a great experience with them thus far.
We are a 991 family.

I've had the car for almost two months now and the only thing I can really complain about are the interior rattles: both door panels have had problems, the sunroof / headliner panel makes noise over bumps, and the PCM screen squeaks in the center console when it's cold.
I've also had a "Cooling System Error" that pops up time to time that they've been chasing but seems to have nothing to do with oil or coolant temp, both are fine even when the error is flashing.
But still, neither of these issues have spoiled the car for me by any means. It's a beast and I'm driving it as much as I possibly can. Will have it on the track next month for the first time, which I'm really looking forward to!
