I put my 2013 April build on hold today for a 2014 and now I am seriously thinking of trading off Ceramic Brakes for the cost difference of the Cab. I have had a 911T Coupe, 996 and 997 Cabs. In Florida when it is not summer the Cab is great, however practically the Coupe seems more the way to go. I am impressed by the roof system of the Cab and think I should switch, however no brake dust and less unsprung weight has me really thinking hard. Please weigh in to help me through this. Thank you......

All of my Porsches have been cabs and looking for one now. I drive it with the top down 95% of the time. It feels so much bigger to me with the top down. Love the open air.
Some people are not convertible fans though so I understand that too.

SeaRay580 - we have an almost identical history of Porsche ownership (see my signature)![Cheers](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/beerchug.gif)
I considered ceramics but heard the difference in braking isn't worth it and if you have an S, you have a lot of power so that offsets the unsprung weight advantage, and even without brake dust you have to wash the rest of the car often enough. The cabriolet roof system is improved and down in FL where you can have it open 9 months out of the year and the new windscreen is automatic why are we having this discussion right now!!!

I'm not sure of your situation, but I have a separate convertible for hot days. My preference is the Porsche coupe for fun and performance, and a classic convertible for top down days or nights. IMO, unless you are going to run the Porsche competitively, the ceramics will not be worthwhile.

I vote for the cab. The new roof system seems like the best combination of hard and soft top I've seen so far. And PCCB's benefits are marginal IMO compared to the joy of top down motoring.

Man, you're in Florida. You need a Cab! Heck I have a Cab here in Maine and drive it open when it hits 50 degrees!

roof up, the Cab is amost as refined as Coupe .. you can barely tell the difference.
roof down, with windows up and electric wind deflector deployed, interior is very calm even at speeds in excess of 90mph.
Cab is an amazing machine.

I drove my cab 300 miles across country yesterday, ave speed 45-50 mph roof down all the way. No buffeting thanks to the amazing electronically deploying wind barrier. Outside temp 32F. Driver snug and warm thanks to seat heating and a good mountaineering jacket. Wonderful car.

I've had a couple convertibles here in Colorado. At altitude, the sun is very strong...ended up driving top down in the cool weather, top up in the summer because you'd just get cooked.

It is hard to put the top down with a coupe, and easy to put the Cab top up and with a 991 essentially have a coupe. So if you like open air motoring, what was the question again?

I have the S coupe because DE performance was a focus of mine (and we don't have much sun here most of the year). If I drove primarily on the street and had access to sunshine - I would choose the Base Cab with my favorite options hands down. The base engine has plenty of power for the street and the Cab is gorgeous. IMO, it is very difficult to use the power of the S model on the street.

Well I'd go cab. When I jump in mine after work, dropping the top is like an instant vacation, an attitude changer.(kind of like a boat SeaRay..)
The 991 is especially appealing in cab form.
