The vehicle is being delivered to John Horton at Park Place Motorsports (PPM) to get some upgrades including rear cage/harness bar, seats (if we can find ones that will work), suspension, tranny, and brakes. Jason Hart is going to do some baseline and progress laps in the car to document progress. PPM will be building kits for the 991 and I'm sure will post progress.

Very interesting since you DO NOT seem to be some non enthusiast poser. Curious to your thoughts on the 991 X51 on the track compared to to 997.2 gt3/RS (which is my current ride). If rumors are to be believed you have basically created the 2014 PDK 9A1 GT3. This will likely be the most devisive car from Porsche in years!

I have not taken it to the track yet but it is a beast compared to my old 991 S (no pdcc, power steering plus or x51) playing around town. I think it would out pace my 997.2 gt3rs (with sport cups) but will get some actual baseline times in the next few weeks. I don't mind getting stuck in traffic in it.

Wow. I think this is one of the first posts of a 991 with the powerkit. I wonder if this maybe is the best combination of docile great driver around town and able to hang with the big dogs at the track. Any thoughts of how it would work with a 7 spd?

A heck of a build, congrats. One thing I don't understand is the design of the rear spoiler as it looks like it'll trap air creating a lot of drag for the amt of downforce. I don't doubt Porsche knows what they're doing but that doesn't look efficient. Anyone else? dave

If you are refering to the little ducktail "spoiler" portion attached to the body below the wing, keep in mind that the function is mainly to reduce drag rather than create downforce. It "spoils" the airflow attached to the body to move the flow eddy away from the body, out a few feet into the airstream, where it creates less drag. Downforce is the main function of the wing. The combination is designed to achieve both effects with the least added drag (and the zoomiest looks).

I have made the same obeservation as dasams, the space between the ducktail and the wing is barely enough to fit a finger. Yes, I agree that they probably know exactly what they are doing -- but it looks counterintuitive.
